Mona’s Obsession

What Mona’s Obsession is about

Mona, an adult stepsister, cannot stand her smug, messy stepbrother, who is also an adult. Yet she is always nosing around when he is near and never misses a chance to tease him. Perhaps all that tension needs a release, and the more she insists she dislikes him, the less convincing it sounds. Neither of them will admit what is happening.

Episode 1 recap

Mona, an adult stepsister, bursts into her stepbrother's room while he is watching something on his screen. He asks why she cannot knock. She teases him about who it was and asks if the woman was hotter than her.

Then their mom, Linda, asks him to take Mona to the gym since she has work. He agrees, and when he calls for Mona, she tells him to come in, then acts scandalized when he does. He reminds her he has a partner.

She is unbothered and threatens to tell his partner about the two of them. He tries to stop her, and when Mona suddenly goes quiet, he rushes to check on her. She smiles and says he does care about his stepsister after all.

What to expect

It is an enemies-to-something story. Mona complains about him constantly and finds reasons to be in the same room, which tells you what you need to know.

Tagged stepsister and taboo, with vertical episodes of around a minute. The tone is teasing, a bit petty and very flirty.

Their rivalry is the engine. Every argument is an excuse to stand closer, and every mess he makes is another chance for her to prove she is not interested. The longer it lasts, the harder that is to believe. The pace is playful, and each episode ends on a hook.
