Mum Got Sick on Our Holiday

What Mum Got Sick on Our Holiday is about

You are the stepdad on a family getaway. Your wife is ill in her room and texts you to look after her adult daughter, Harriet. Harriet has a very different idea of being looked after. The series follows one long evening of glances, whispered excuses and the risk that a message from upstairs arrives at the wrong moment.

Episode 1 recap

You are on a family holiday when your wife falls ill, probably from the prawns, and tells you to keep her adult daughter Harriet company all week. She says she could not ask for a better husband.

Harriet seems to have her own idea of company. She compliments your hands and asks you to rub suncream on her back because she cannot reach. A call from her mum lands at the wrong moment, and Harriet lies to cover for you, though she is a terrible liar.

She suggests a private bed with curtains, strictly for the shade and charged to her mum's card. You ask yourself whether you should say no, and the episode ends before you answer.

What to expect

This is a slow-burn secret in a single house. The wife is only a floor away, which keeps every conversation on the edge of being interrupted. Harriet is an adult stepdaughter, and the tension comes from what neither of them should say out loud.

Like all Candy Shorts, the episodes are vertical and short, about a minute each. The camera often looks straight at you, so the flirting feels like it is aimed at the viewer.
