My Best Friends’ Daughter

What My Best Friends’ Daughter is about

His best friend begged him to keep his daughter, a grown woman, safe from the wrong kind of man. It never occurred to the friend that the wrong man might be the one he asked. Now the promise sits uneasily with what is actually happening. Everyone involved is an adult. Keeping it hidden is the hard part.

Episode 1 recap

A man has promised his best friend to look after the friend's daughter, a grown woman, for the summer. He tells himself it will be simple, then catches himself staring. She tells him to take a good look.

He decides it is high time she learned some manners and lays down house rules: dishes every day, the house cleaned up. She asks whether he is serious. He is.

When she mentions meeting her boyfriend, Troy, he asks if she is still seeing him and tells her to be home by ten. She says he really loves making rules and dares him to try and enforce them. Watch what happens, she says, and he wonders if that is exactly what she wants.

What to expect

Guilt is the key ingredient. My Best Friends' Daughter is a story about a vow made over a beer and the quiet, steady way it comes undone.

Candy tags it Maid and Taboo. The mood is tense and secretive, with suggestive scenes that stay well short of graphic. Each vertical episode takes about a minute.
