My Girlfriend’s Mom Needs a Ride

What My Girlfriend’s Mom Needs a Ride is about

His girlfriend asks him to drive her mother, Diana, home from work while her car sits in the shop for the week. Diana, an adult woman, is more than happy to accept, and she makes sure the ride never ends at her front door. Each trip feels a little longer than the last, and her car will stay in the shop all week.

Episode 1 recap

A man's partner asks him to drive her mother home from work, a forty-minute trip. Her mother is Diana, an adult woman who calls him her knight in shining armor and lets him know that she has noticed him looking at her.

His partner texts to ask whether her mom is talking his ear off, and Diana replies in the voice of someone enjoying every mile. When they arrive, he says it was the fastest forty minutes of his year, and she says it does not have to be over.

Her car will be in the shop all week. She asks him to pick her up from work tomorrow and tells him not to mention it to her daughter.

What to expect

Think of it as a series of short drives with a slow shift in mood. The car is a private space with nowhere to look but forward, and Diana has the whole week to use it.

The girlfriend's request is the cover, so the story builds on how easy it is to say yes to a favor. Episodes run about a minute and use point-of-view shots and close-ups, which keeps the series suggestive instead of explicit.
