Dad Left My Step-Mom

What Dad Left My Step-Mom is about

Tyler's father has just left his wife Josie for someone else. Tyler, a grown man, comes home for the weekend to keep his adult stepmom company through the worst of it. Comfort is the plan for the two days they have, though the weekend heads somewhere neither of them had mentioned, and his father's absence fills every room.

Episode 1 recap

Tyler's father has left his wife Josie for someone else, and Tyler, a grown man, is on his way home to check on his adult stepmom. She greets him with a bitter question: does she look old to him? After years of yoga, she says, her husband never noticed.

Tyler says what a stepson should say, that she is his stepmom. She points out that he is noticing anyway. A small slip, a hand that shakes, and he admits the moment feels wrong.

He tells her he will come by on Sunday so they can talk. She says Sunday is fine and that she will keep busy. Then she asks him to stay for the whole weekend, because she does not want to sleep alone.

What to expect

This is a quieter premise than most, built on consolation rather than a scheme. Josie is hurt, Tyler is there, and the house is empty of the one person who matters to both of them.

Candy tags it Cuckold, Stepmom/Mom and Taboo, which hints at the betrayal angle: the husband is the one who left, and the stepson is the one who stays. Expect late-night conversations, long looks and short vertical episodes of about a minute. The tone is suggestive and emotional, not graphic.
