The Gods Gave Me My Father’s Wife

What The Gods Gave Me My Father’s Wife is about

Prince Theron comes home to a new stepmother, Queen Lysandra, who is the woman he has seen in his dreams. Shared visions push them into a forbidden affair until they are discovered and banished. Then the king, who never satisfied his wife, makes a startling offer: he gives them both the queen and the crown.

Episode 1 recap

This one is a fantasy. Prince Theron has been dreaming of a woman, and when his father the king introduces his new wife, Queen Lysandra, she is that woman. The prince is stunned, and the queen seems to feel the same.

They realize they have had the same dream, and each admits it to the other. At court an oracle warns that the king has brought a serpent into his marriage bed and that the ancient prophecy has begun. The king laughs it off and has the oracle removed.

Theron wonders whether the oracle meant the queen and himself. Lysandra insists that the gods have chosen this path for them. The episode ends with the push to follow what the gods ask.

Myth, but make it forbidden

Most Candy Shorts are set in modern homes. This one swaps them for a royal court. Dreams, omens and gods supply the push, and the palace supplies the danger. Lysandra is an adult queen, and she is Theron's stepmother, not his mother by blood.
