My Wife’s Dance Instructor

What My Wife’s Dance Instructor is about

His wife books tango lessons to save their marriage, then stops attending. The instructor, an adult woman, now offers him a private routine that feels like an affair, though everyone keeps calling it choreography. For the moment, the line between a lesson and a secret is thin, and the marriage is the thing that could tip it either way. He has to decide whether to keep dancing.

Episode 1 recap

A husband arrives at his wife's tango lesson, only to find that she is stuck at work and has told him to go without her. The instructor, an adult woman, says that in that case he should dance with her. She begins to teach him, saying tango lives in the hips.

She counts the steps and tells him to hold her like he means the step. He has two left feet but never steps on her. By the second week his wife has cancelled again.

That is the turn. The instructor says his wife is missing out, then that she is not coming, and offers to teach him the private routine.

What to expect

Dance is a natural fit for a story about closeness: hands on a back, a hold, a step forward and back. The series uses the lessons as cover, and the instructor knows exactly what she is doing.

Candy tags it Teacher and Wife. The marriage is the stake, and the missing wife gives the studio a charged emptiness. Each episode runs about a minute and favors movement, close-ups and direct looks to the camera. The mood is sultry and suggestive, with nothing graphic.
