She says he is the one nobody wanted, and calls that perfect. From tonight he will guard her bedchamber.

Alone, she asks if he knows why she chose him. He guesses his sword arm. She says it is because when she looks at him, he looks back. The law forbids him from touching her, she adds, but says nothing about her touching him. She notes that his heart is hammering and tells him he is hers tonight.
