A bastard knight, Ser Garrick, is stopped on the road by a woman who knows his name. She is the witch from the Blackwood, an adult, and she tells him that no one will ever crown a bastard.

He says he will win the lords with his sword. She replies that she would like to see him try, and explains the count: seven lords must kneel, two already have, and five spit on his name. She offers to help him win them.

Her price is that he comes to her at moonrise and submits to her will. By dawn, she says, a lord will kneel. A shout in the distance says the hunt is turning back.

What to expect
